2025 Head On Photo Festival open program
We’re thrilled to announce that Yani Clarke’s new series LUCKY ROCKET has been selected for the 2025 Head On Photo Festival Open Program — and will be showing right here at Elevator ARI, Lismore.
Shot a decade apart at the same rocket festival — first discovered by chance in Vang Vieng, Laos (2014), and revisited in Yasothon City, Thailand (2024) — LUCKY ROCKET is a visual diary of ritual, return, and release. It captures the joyful defiance of a centuries-old tradition to summon rain, and the artist’s own reflection on time, identity, and perspective.
As a Lismore-based documentary art photographer working on Bundjalung Country, Yani brings a deeply personal and cross-cultural lens to this remarkable project.
Join us this November to experience LUCKY ROCKET at Elevator — part of a national celebration of photography and storytelling through Head On Photo Festival.
